Dayak Cultural Foundation

Dayak Cultural Foundation (DCF) is a Malaysian non-profit organisation dedicated to preserving, promoting, and advancing the cultural heritage of the Dayak peoples of Sarawak. Established in 1992, the foundation serves the three major Dayak communities—Iban, Bidayuh, and Orang Ulu—by supporting cultural, educational, scientific, and charitable initiatives that strengthen Indigenous identity while contributing to social and community development.

The foundation implements a wide range of programmes focused on cultural preservation, traditional performing arts, Indigenous music and dance, historical research, language promotion, education, and youth engagement. Through cultural performances, Sape music classes, Ngajat dance instruction, exhibitions, publications, and research initiatives, DCF works to ensure that traditional knowledge and artistic practices continue to be passed on to future generations while remaining relevant in contemporary society.

Beyond cultural preservation, DCF actively promotes greater appreciation of Dayak history, values, and traditions by collaborating with Indigenous communities, educational institutions, government agencies, researchers, and cultural organisations. The foundation also supports documentation and research on Dayak heritage, helping preserve Indigenous knowledge while fostering intercultural understanding and respect throughout Malaysia and beyond.

Through education, research, cultural expression, and community collaboration, the Dayak Cultural Foundation plays a vital role in safeguarding the rich cultural heritage of Borneo’s Indigenous peoples. By empowering communities to celebrate and preserve their traditions, the foundation contributes to a future where Indigenous cultures continue to thrive alongside social and economic development.
